Dr. Yale S. Popowich was born and raised in Philadelphia. He received his Bachelor of Arts from Columbia College in New York City in 1986. His pathway to medicine was unorthodox, having worked in the independent film business for 6 years before becoming a physician. During that time he had the privilege of working on such films as "A Room with a View," "Salaam Bombay," "Drugstore Cowboy" and "Stop Making Sense."
His appreciation for the arts combined with his love of medicine made a career in plastic surgery a natural fit for him. He returned to Philadelphia to obtain his medical degree at the Medical College of Pennsylvania/Hahnemann University School of Medicine in 1998, and went on to complete his general surgery training at Stanford University in Palo Alto, CA in 2004. He completed his residency training in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Oregon Health & Sciences University in 2006. |

Breast Implants in Portland, Oregon
Full breasts can greatly enhance a woman's appearance. While not every woman is born with the breast size she desires, a new look can be achieved with breast implants. With every procedure he performs, Dr. Popowich considers the individual patient and their unique goals and concerns. Together, you will be able to adjust several important factors to fit your needs:
- Size - For many women, a small size increase is enough to achieve their goals. Other women are looking for more dramatic changes.
- Material - Breast implants are available in saline and silicone gel. Saline implants are filled with a sterile saltwater solution. Silicone implants are filled with cohesive gel. While saline implants are popular due to their long history of use, as well as the fact that a rupture will be noticed immediately, silicone gel implants offer a more natural look and feel.
- Placement - Implants are usually placed above or below the chest (pectoral) muscle. The placement method chosen can affect both how the implants look and how they feel.
- Incision Location - While breast augmentation can be performed with incisions in the fold below the breast and around the areola, Dr. Popowich also offers a transaxillary approach - in the armpit. This approach results in no scars on the breasts themselves.
